5 perfect adventure breakaways in Europe this summer
Travel connections in Europe are now better then ever which means that your next adventure is just around the corner! Do you want to get out of your daily routine, away from the office and feel totally refreshed in just a couple of days? Here are our tips for a perfect (long) weekend outdoor adventure!
1. Stavanger (Norway), Climbing Norway’s most famous mountains
The area around Stavanger contains some of the most beautiful mountains of Norway – Trolltunga, Preikestolen and Kjerag. Beat the crowds and hike one of the best-known mountains off-trail and enjoy sceneries over Lysefjord that not many people have seen before.
All these hikes still on your bucket list? Contact us and we are happy to prepare a package tour for you including accommodation.
2. Porto (Portugal) – Camino de Santiago by MTB
Most of you will know the Camino de Santiago (also known as Way of Saint James), the network of pilgrims’ ways leading to the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain as a hiking adventure. But did you know that large parts of the route could also be done by mountain bike?
The Portuguese and Spanish coastal ways are some of the most beautiful parts of the route and can be explored by MTB. Start your adventure in Porto and enjoy a 4-day / 290km MTB ride towards the city of Santiago de Compostella.
3. Interlaken (Switzerland), Aletsch Glacier Hike
The longest glacier in Europe, the Aletsch Glacier, is situated in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hike in two days (with an overnight stay in a mountain hut at 2850m) over this frozen river and enjoy the beautiful Alps. Never done ice hiking? That’s no problem! You don’t need any experience as long as you have the right hiking gear and a general fitness for a 6 hour hiking day!
4. Voss, Norway – 3 elements, 3 challenges
Voss is also known as the place for extreme outdoor sports in Scandinavia and that is for a reason. If you are looking for a thrill-seeking adventure weekend combining different adventures, this one is for you!
In one weekend explore the main elements of the outdoors: water, air and earth! Your guide will take you paragliding, white water tandem kayaking and mountain biking. For sure, you have a story to tell after this weekend!
5. Bergen (Norway) – From Sea to Summit
Combining sea kayaking, hiking and camping in the Norwegian wilderness, this is a great weekend break if you are looking for adventure. With an experienced guide you’ll pack your kayak and start paddling. Feel the freedom on the water and go wherever you would like to go. Set up your camp on one of the beautiful mountains and have your dinner with a breathtaking view over the Fjords. A real adventurer, you could even sleep in a portaledge!
And don’t forget to follow the ‘Leave No Trash’ principle for this tour – don’t leave your garbage but take it back to the city.
