About Frisian Islands
The Frisian Islands, also known as the Wadden Islands, is a group of small island in the Northern part of the Netherlands. The Wadden Sea is an UNESCO World Heritage site you can explore by boat at low tide to scout seals, migrating birds and plants. A perfect place for water and wind activities!
Have you ever heard of 'wadlopen', the guided intertidal walks from the mainland to one of the islands Ameland and Schiermonnikoog? Your need to have a good hiking condition to participate in these walks as the distance is between 12 - 20km. It is definitely a unique experience however as this is one of the few places on earth where you can actually cross a complete sea...by foot! Departures are from the towns Holwerd and Lauwersoog in Friesland.
