About this tour

In the winter training we focus on surviving in extreme weather, extremely low temperature in an natural and wild environment. We’ll bring you as far as Lapland, well above the polar circle, in the wilderness between Gällivare and Kiruna, the two little towns laying within the vast forests and mountain area of the north of Europe

Learn what the nature has to offer. Open your eyes to see that everything your need is just in front of you. Finding food, water, building shelter, making fire and don't get lost. With taught ideas, different solutions and by only using the nature and your knowledges you'll fend your way out.

Today, us humans, have lost our survival instinct. We have difficulties to handle stressful or new situations. We often feel that it is impossible to overcome a desperate situation. But we are mistaken!

A big part of the survival work is mentally. Train to come to a state of mind where you will master yourself, feel comfortable in nature but as well in your daily life when you have to take risky choices. Physically and mentally demanding, survival is an incredible way to overcome yourself.

The program contains:

  • The three survival fundamentals
  • The basic needs and knowing which ones to prioritize
  • Fire - how to build it? With what? Different techniques
  • Shelter - how to build it? With what? Different types for different environments and climates
  • Food - what to eat? Where to find it? How to prepare it?
  • Water - where to find it? How to collect it?
  • Plants: edible, toxic, medicinal
  • Wildlife - tracking, danger, silent walk, team hunting (no killings in the course)
  • Trapping - set traps network (no killing)
  • Fishing - fish traps, night lines etc ...
  • Climatic zones and how to cope with them
  • Orientation - map reading, nature reading
  • Encampment - tools, kitchen equipment, efficiency and use of the nature.
  • Introduction to long term survival skills
  • Moving - how to move in heavy snow? etc ...
  • First aid - some easy tricks to master.
  • Survival in group: Leadership.

Tour schedule:

  • Day 1: Arrival

    Arrival to Gällivare or Kiruna train station or airport. We’ll pick you up from there and drive for less than an hour by car to the hotel. From there we’ll grab a coffee before riding the snowmobile for 15 minutes towards the wilderness camp where our lodge is.

    Day 2: Course, practice and activity.

    We’ll start with a breakfast in the morning and follow with the survival course starting at 10.00

        Program: Basics and fire

    -The base of survival

    -The essentials

    -Make the right choice

    -Fire technics

    In the afternoon and after a lunch break we will go out and practice what we have learn during the morning.

    -Before or after the practice you’ll have the time for one of the activities. Your choice.

    Day 3: Course and practice

    Breakfast than survival course starting at 10.00

    Program: Shelter

    -Shelter: summer shelter and of course winter shelter.

    In the afternoon and after a lunch break we will go in out and practice what we have learn during the morning.

    -Building a shelter takes a lot of time we therefore won’t have the time for extra activity today.

    Day 4: Course and practice

    Like the other days we start with a breakfast then starts the theoretical survival course at 10.00

    Program: Water and food

    -what to drink

    -where to find

    -how to melt snow

    -what food

    -how to find it


    -trapping and network (no killings in our tours but intense practice).

    -tracking animals, silent walk

    Building trap networks takes days we therefore won’t have the time for extra activity today.

    Day 5: practice day.

    You’ll have the opportunity to practice what we’ve been learning. During those two days (day 5 and 6), you’ll be ready to sleeping in your shelter if you feel capable to do so. The lodge is of course available anytime and one should risk frostbites or even freeze to death over night. Use those days to do an activity you didn’t have time to do.

    Day 6: Practice day.

    You still get the chance to practice, set more trap to increase your chance to catch sustainable food, improve your wind shields or gather more food.

    Use that day to relax as well, those days has been quite intense especially if you slept in your survival shelter the night before. You’ve learned a lot and your head is full of information, you might want to go through your notes and some questions might come up.

    Day 7: return

    Pack up time, we are going back to civilisation today. On request, you can decide to pass by the ice hotel on your way back to the airport or train station (return via Kiruna in this case).

    Survival ask for knowledge that we have to teach before bringing anyone in the nature without anything else than a knife and a sparks fire lighter. To do so, you'll follow a two days theory and practice course before going for a field-practice in the wilderness. This program will aim the essential points of survival in a wild natural environment of the northern European forest. We will therefore concentrate on the points that concern us.

    There will be a discovery level and three other levels that will allow you to feel comfortable in all circumstances and get out of any survival situation.
