“ Fantastic tour guides, who clearly love what they do. ”
It was a pretty cloudy day so we asked the tourist office in town to book us with whatever company would give us the best chance of seeing the lights.
The guys at Happyworld tours are very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do and really did everything they could to make the evening as special as possible. They were constantly assessing the conditions as we left a cloudy Reykjavik but managed to find us a great piece of clear sky on the side of a quite mountain, where we saw the most amazing show of lights. The star gazing added extra entertainment as we waited for the lights to show up. The guys took great photos all evening which they emailed to us afterwards. Fantastic service allround.

“ If you’re serious about seeing the Northern lights, go with this crowd ”
I went on a Northern lights tour with Happy world in April 2019. I am a keen photographer, and I have wanted to see and capture the Northern lights for many years. This was my first time in Iceland, and while I had seen the lights just a couple of nights before as part of a large group on a bus, I wanted a more personal experience, among people who were just as keen as I.
I’m delighted to say that they delivered on all counts.
I appreciated the lengths that they went to to maximise our experience and to manage expectations. Key take away points is that the score that you see in Aurora forecasts is an indication of how far the lights will extend towards the equator; it is not a probability or an indication of likely intensity. The second point that was made clear to us is that you are unlikely to see the colours with your naked eye; what you see will likely be rather grey or white, like a cloud that waxes and wanes and moves about in bands. So, to really see the lights, you need a decent camera and a tripod. Not to worry, they’ve got you covered there too. Not only do they take your picture under the lights, they are continuously shooting the lights themselves, and the send you jpegs of all their shots the next day. So, not only do they go the extra mile to find the lights, they take that last step to make sure that you have souvenirs of the experience, even if all you’re carrying is your phone. Of coarse, if you’re like me, and you want to bring your own kit and take your own shots, they will help you with that too.
We were blessed with a great night, and while some operators might have been happy to quit early, or on time, with the satisfaction of a job well done, the Happy World team elected to extend the tour because the show was too good to leave! That’s what I would have done if I’d been on my own, but for a tour operator to do that speaks to the passion this crew has for their job.
Caveats. This is not a luxury experience. The trucks can be a bit cramped, and it can get very cold, but if you’re prepared to sacrifice some comfort, and a little sleep, for an unforgettable night under the stars, ruck up, keep moving and go with Happy World!

“ Amazing experience! ”
We booked our Northern Lights excursion with Happyworld based on the suggestion of a fellow tourist we met on our glacier tour. It was a highlight of our trip to Iceland and worth every penny! Klemmi was our guide and he was fantastic! He entertained us with fun facts and tales of Iceland. He found two prime spots for us to view the northern lights and then took AMAZING pictures (which were emailed to us the following day) If you have your own camera then he helps you adjust the settings to capture the lights. AND he brought the best hot chocolate and "Icelandic doughnuts" as a treat. It was a magical evening!

“ A brilliant experience - thank you! ”
Our first two bookings were cancelled due to the weather, but third time lucky! Pick up was easy and on time, and the guides drove us to a spot they believed we had the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights. When we arrived the Northern Lights were starting to appear, and it was great seeing how excited and happy the guides were. Over time their intensity developed and it was an incredible experience. The guides took lots of pictures and emailed them out the next day. We had hot chocolate, and an Icelandic pastry, then later on in the evening were given a shot of Brennivin which helped warm us up! We ended up staying late as the Northern Lights were so great, which helped the tour feel personal and more exciting, so a special thank you to the guides for that. Would definitely recommend!

“ Incredible experience with Happyworld! ”
The tour was cancelled two nights, which meant I would leave Iceland without the chance to see the Northern Lights. However, I ended up having to stay another night (thanks Wow Air) and Happyworld let me join the tour last minute. Our group was one of the few to see the lights since most tour companies cancelled. Our guide Gummi was very friendly and personable. Highly recommend this tour :-)

“ An even more Perfect ending to our week in Iceland ”
We were traveling in a family of 9 pax and had been driving around Iceland for the past week trying to catch the Northern Lights to no avail due to clouds, bad weather , inexperience on where or when to look etc. Obviously we knew it depends on many factors (including luck) for a sighting and we were almost prepared to leave without a sighting.
However, having been recommended Happyworld by our uncle who had engaged them previously and had only positive reviews, we contacted Happyworld at the last minute and asked them if they were able to organize something on our last 2 nights...They reverted quickly with the advice that that night was not possible due to the weather conditions and said that the last night was possible. We were obviously anxious as despite the offer of unlimited retries to see the northern lights, we didn't want to not see it on our last night. We were also traveling with our parents who travelled here with the sole purpose of seeing this and weren't sure if they would be able to make it back to iceland again for this. Happyworld would also contact us again at 630pm to inform us if it was a go or no-go depending on the latest weather forecasts and reports.
They also offered us 2 vehicle options (minibus or a monster truck with clear descriptions of what each vehicle entails and their respective costs) for our large group which wouldn't have fitted into the typical land rover. We opted for the Monster Truck which costed more but was definitely an experience as it could allow us to go offroads if the weather conditions required.
Luckily, by 630pm we received the email to say that it was a yes go and at 830pm sharp, Arnar, our guide, picked us up in his white bens monster truck. He was friendly and knowledgable with his "secret" spots for these sightings and we enjoyed the entire experience tremendously. He shared about the theory of how these lights came about and what to expect. He debunked some myths that we read about and also answered all our questions happily and patiently.
What also came with this package were high quality pictures taken by our guide (so you can focus on just enjoying the northern lights rather than figuring out how to take pictures with your phones or cameras..which were essentially light pollution and affects your ability to actually enjoy the viewing), homemade hot chocolate and doughnuts and icelandic shots. All were pretty much appreciated in the cold weather.
And at around 930pm, after driving us to a selcuded spot not far from reykjavik, which we would otherwise never have known how to get there, we got ourselves ready and saw the faint lights at a distance. Through Arnar's experience, we were guided on how to spot it. The trip was now even more perfect! Thank you Arnar and Happyworld!

“ Beware third party booking - Happyworld saved the day ”
So it turns out booking on certain sites <cough> doesn't fully transmit all of the information, and so I was inadvertently never picked up from my hotel for this tour. I only had one night, so it was my only chance to see the Northern Lights. When the hotel concierge called Happyworld, Anita PERSONALLY came and picked me to drive me to the tour group. That's really above and beyond, and I'm grateful the night was salvaged.
The tour itself was a huge success. I saw amazing Northern Lights that night, and the special camera they brought captured it beautifully. Will definitely be doing this again with my family next time.
Just beware that hiccups in bookings happen often (I heard the same from other tourists as well), and check your email or proactively call/confirm that the group has all the information needed for your reservation!

“ Northern Light tour ”
We got so lucky and were able to see Northern lights and many stars on our night tour. Gummi and Astpor were very knowledgeable and persistent in finding the right place to see these lights. Just an FYI-it is a late night so be prepared to get dropped off late but well worth it if see the lights. I do recommend this tour and love the convenience of being picked up and dropped off at our tour.

“ Epic Experience with Awesome Guide and Next Level Hot Chocolate ”
Only one part of an overall amazing experience in this country, this tour helped elevate our Icelandic adventure from a 9 to a 10 out of 10. The guide was extremely insightful, knowledgeable (about the lights, stars, Icelandic history, ghosts, etc) personable, and patient. The lights themselves got up to a KP5 - we were extremely lucky to experience the dancing patterns across half of the night sky. Don't expect the vivid green you see in pictures as that is enhanced by the camera but if you're lucky you'll still have a once in a lifetime viewing of an incredible natural phenomena. The only thing arguably better than the lights was the hot chocolate and Icelandic pastry they surprised us with halfway through.

“ An unforgettable experience! ”
An unforgettable experience! Out guide was amazing, very helpful and friendly, with interesting stories to tell. He took us to an abandoned "haunted" house, at a place where the Northern Lights were visible in full glory, he offered us hot chocolate and kleinur and he took a lot of pictures of all the people of the group in front of the lights. It was really nice, because we wouldn't have to worry about the photos. It was an excellent experience in every way and i highly recommend it to everyone.

“ One of our favourite experiences in Iceland! ”
We were a group of 7 people in one jeep. Our guide was Prostur and he was amazing! Very friendly and full of interesting stories. Our first stop was at an abandoned 'haunted' house but unfortunately we were not able to see the lights from there. However, we did have fun visiting the haunted house, stargazing and making a snowman! We then moved to another location and was able to see the lights there with hot chocolate, kleinur and shots :) We were offered to go back another night for free since the light show was a small one. We loved how passionate both the guides were and went above and beyond our slotted time to do so. Highly recommend this company for Northern Lights!

“ Amazing experience ”
This is long overdue. I would highly recommend this tour! There were 6 of us total in the jeep, and two jeeps together at each stop. The jeep was comfortable and he put the heater on when needed. You can tell they have a lot of fun doing this and the experience felt for unique. We spent most of the night at an abandoned farm house and had an incredible experience with the lights. He said it was top ten of the season at that point. They also set up a professional camera and will take as many photos of you as you want. It was fun to see people get more comfortable as the night went on and try different fun poses! It was also really nice not to have to worry about trying to get a good photo and just be in the moment. The hot chocolate and pastry were super good on a freezing night. On the way back we stopped for an extra look at some different formations on the way back. He was prompt to send the photos ASAP, and they were amazing.

“ The BEST tour company by far! ”
From start to finish, this company is efficient, friendly and professional. Do not hesitate to book and do not book with anyone else.
Anita and Robert are very serious star gazers and use up to date forecasts to assess the chances of seeing the Northern Lights. If this is unlikely, they will either refund you the money or book you on the next trip. They will not simply run the tour without the very best chances of their customers seeing the Lights. The trip is communicated very clearly and explicitly by Anita or Robert a few hours before your pick up and this is extremely helpful.
We were picked up at our hotel by the lovely Telma (who was a superb guide throughout) and alongside her partner guide, Klemmi (a very funny guide) who made sure they did their absolute best to find a superb spot to watch the Northern Lights. We spoke to several customers who had booked on to other tours but never had the experience that Happyworld gave you- the best spots that were sheltered, the tiny group size, the very knowledgeable guides and the refreshments too.
There really is NO other Northern Lights tour you should even contemplate booking. This was an excellent experience in every way.

“ The best! ”
Even if we hadn't seen the Northern Lights, this trip would have been worth it to see the Milky Way, stars, and other objects in the sky! But we did see the Northern Lights, which made it even more magical. Our guides were enthusiastic, incredibly knowledgeable, and the most wonderful hosts. The best thing is that you don't have to worry about getting the photos because they take them for you. I hope to get to Iceland again someday, and I'll book this tour again! Thank you, Happyworld!

“ Fantastic Fun!! ”
My husband and I booked with Happyworld to go see the Northern Lights. We had so much fun and we were so excited to go. The first night Madame Aurora was being fickle and we didn't see much of her. But we got to see a haunted house and go in inside it. Plus the most delicious hot chocolate and baked goods (special home made) and a special toast at the end of our evening. They also stayed out later than expected trying to chase the lights. Our guide Thurstur (spelling?) is so knowledgable about the constellations and the Aurora Borealis and passionate about his home land, his energy was infectious. Happyworld took us out the next night with Anita as our expert and attentive guide at no extra charge to try to see the Northern Lights again. We went this night into the Fiords and the experience was magical. So beautiful and silent. We were mesmerized by the place. The lights lasted a longer time. We highly recommend booking with Happyworld without hesitation.

“ Incredible Experience ”
Upon arrival in Reykjavik we checked the weather & headed straight to the tourist information centre. There were a number of Northern Light tours available but this one came highly recommended. We booked on for our first evening and had an incredible experience. A jeep picked us up from the tourist centre & we were greeted by a very friendly tour guide. We drove out of town to the first location where we caught sight of the Northern Lights. We stayed there for a short while and took some pictures before driving further away to another remote location. I would recommend wrapping up extra warm for this; we spent quite a lot of time outside in the freezing wind, and thankfully we came prepared with lots of layers. At the second location we were super lucky and caught sight of stronger, brighter and fast-moving lights. Utterly amazing, and made really enjoyable by our tour guide who was very knowledgable, funny and engaging. We finished our evening with lovely hot chocolate, star gazing and a local doughnut treat. We had a fantastic time and a great start to our holiday in Iceland. I would heartily recommend this tour; it's worth the money and we received some great photos and videos afterwards.
They offer a free 2nd attempt if you aren't able to see the lights on your first visit. While spaces are limited, it worked out ok for us to book at the last minute (same day) as we wanted to pick a day with the least cloud cover. We had a fantastic time, but wouldn't advise bringing young children as you will be outside for quite some time and late in the evening.
Thank you Happy World!

We were amazingly lucky. We signed up with HappyWorld on a night with no moon and perfectly clear skies. Bjarni was our guide. The northern lights were extraordinary -- dancing across the sky in so many permutations. We will never forget the experience. Thanks to Bjarni and HappyWorld for sending better pictures than the ones that we took with our mobile phones/cameras. Thanks also for the hot chocolate. A special treat at the end of a cold night! “ Unbelievable experience! ”
We booked on this tour at the last moment as another tour operator cancelled on us at late notice. We are so lucky they did, as the guys at Happyworld we’re brilliant. Þröstur and Gummi our guides were so friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. They provided great background knowledge of the area and Northern Lights. We were a small group of 2 Land Rovers comprising approx 12 people.
They found a great, quiet spot and although we were really fortunate for the night we chose with such vivid lights and visibility, I’m sure it was because they knew exactly where to go. When my 10 year old daughters feet became cold, Gummi quickly pulled out feet warmers for her and offered hot chocolate too!
The photos they took, which are all included in the price, are simply amazing. An unforgettable experience and would definitely recommend Happyworld tours, thanks guys!

“ Incredible Experience ”
HappyWorld Small Group Northern Lightsand Stargazing Tour was great! When we arrived at our final location of the night that the guides determined had the best chances for seeing the lights, our guides, Gummi and Jon set up a large telescope and presented a very interesting analysis of the stars that were out. After a while, the northern lights come out and put on a fantastic show for us. Gummi was really good in getting great photos of all of us with the aurora in the background. He was also very helpful to me in getting my camera ready with the proper settings to catch the lights. The hot chocolate and the pastries were delicious and were a very welcome treat on that cold night. We booked two nights in a row, hoping to maximize our chances of seeing the lights. The first night was not successful, so as a policy of Happy World, if you are on a tour that is not successful in seeing the lights, you are able to get a re-run on another night at no cost. We were able to book the re-run for the next night. So, we did not need to pay for that second night booking. The company was really good and generous by offering to refund our second paid booking if we chose not to use it, since we were successful in seeing the lights on the second, re-run night. Hands down, the small group tour is definitely much better than the large bus tour. We were able to move our position much easier and quicker with the small group of people when the guides determined that a move would give us the best chances of a sighting. And without a doubt, the Best small group to book with is Happy World!!!!! Happy World made the entire experience truly fantastic and a very memorable highlight of our trip.

“ Highlight of our stay in Reykjavik...Incredible Northern Lights Experience! ”
We arrived into Reykjavik on Wednesday 2nd January and had a Super Jeep experience booked with another company for that evening. It was unfortunately cancelled due to cloud cover. Same happened on the Thursday and Friday and when asking to rebook for our final day on Saturday, we were informed that the tour was fully booked! We were extremely annoyed with the other tour operator because the offer of next day rebooking was stated when we booked the holiday!
Due to this, we visited the tourist office in Reykjavik, who were amazing and recommended us HappyWorld's Northern Lights Experience tour in a Super Jeep for the Saturday Night.
Fortunately, the tour was on (we received an email at 6.30pm to inform us) and we were greeted by Klemmi around 8pm and taken in a group of 20 in a Super Jeep, despite the falling snow and heavy winds - BUT less cloud cover than the previous days!
From the start our guide and driver, Klemmi was fantastic. He kept us entertained and educated behind the science and phenomena that is the Northern Lights. The history and culture he shared about Iceland was very well received and became an interactive discussion in the Jeep.
The first stop was in a remote field that he called a practice run! He helped me in adjusting my camera settings to be able to capture the lights clearly and as soon as we stopped and exited the Jeep, the Northern Lights were visible. An amazing experience, which was then followed by 2 more stops within a 4 hour tour, where we saw the light a few more times.
Despite the chilling winds, falling sleet, he patiently allowed us to take photos as well as taking photos of us with the Northern Lights behind us!
At the final stop, he brought out Hot Chocolate and Doughnuts, which went down a treat! I am a fan of Cadbury's, but this Hot Chocolate was equally as good!
The tour ended around midnight and we headed back to Reykjavik, reaching our respective hotels approximately 1am.
Despite the disappointment earlier on in our trip of having our tour (with another provider) cancelled due to cloud cover and then being told they were full, Happy World saved our holiday and in fact provided us with a lasting memory of our trip to Iceland. My wife and I initially booked Iceland to view the Northern Lights, not realising there was so much more to see. Had a fantastic 4 days there visiting the Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon and sights within Reykjavic, but the highlight and pinnacle was the final night made memorable by mother nature ( and Happy World!!).

“ Highlight of a winter visit to Iceland ”
This was the highlight of our trip. Our guide, Þröstur, was amazing - he was all my daughter would talk about :) ... The first night, we only caught a small glimpse of the lights. We rescheduled on our last night in Iceland. We were out until 1 AM and had to head back without seeing the aurora at all. He was more disappointed then we were. Make no mistake, if the lights can be seen during your tour, he will get you in the correct location. On the way back in, the clearing finally came. He got us to a view location, and we got some amazing photos. Stayed there well past the allotted time to enjoy this experience.
I am probably much more experienced with star gazing and astronomy than most tourist. And Þröstur's knowledge and skill impressed me. This was the first time I was able to see the Andromeda Galaxy. He is a great story teller also.
I'd give this a 6 if I could. Well worth paying a bit more for this experience.

Oh my goodness, I can't say enough good things! Our guides Throstur and Bjorn(I don't have the Icelandic keys on my keyboard to spell it properly) were absolutely wonderful! We were picked up right on time from outside our hotel. Driven out in the middle of who knows where. We first stopped on the side of the road, as our guides spotted lights and didn't want us to miss them in case they were gone for the night. Saw the lights for the first time! We then continued driving out to a field. Turned out we were extremely lucky and saw five bands of lights! Our guides were very professional, knowledgeable, and excited! They were very happy to tell us about not just the lights, but some Icelandic lore as well. After some great pictures, they pulled out the telescope and we observed many stars and even another galaxy! We continued with more pics and light gazing, then they brought out the homemade hot chocolate! Our trip was amazing, thanks to our great guides! Thank you!!!

“ Aurora Borealis and stargazing ”
Þröstur knowledge of stargazing as well as the lights made this even better.
Ulfar was the other guide who was also very nice.
The hot chocalte and twisted donut was a nice surprise (even though it is on the website but we did not book directly we did it in the tourist office)
Þröstur entuasism was like he either owned the tour company or he was showing it to friends and would feel dissapointed if they were not seen. On the drive how he was genuinely excited.
We didn't have a camera but Þröstur gave out all the needed settings to take good photos.
This was also the first time to see the milky way so clear which was also pretty amazing. Mars, Betelgeuse and a lot of constellations and their mythology was pointed out and discussed which helped the time pass.
We were out for about 3 hours with not seeing much and to be honest we were both (along with a few others) in the jeep having given up but the two guys did not give up and we eventually saw a corona and mix of bands/rays by the looks / memory of it which were all very beautiful which made it all worth it. There were 6 in our jeep but I was not in the back seat but the middle and front was comfortable. The pictures were online so quick, not quite sure when they had the time to get them online to be honest very professional. We are already planning to go back to Iceland and it has a lot to do with this tour.

They had the expertise to know where to be to see them and made sure to constantly check the forecast to see if we should stay or go to a more favorable location. I don’t think we would’ve seen them that night if we were on a large tour bus. We went to locations a bus would’ve gotten stuck in and we wouldn’t have been able to travel so quickly if there was a larger group. I’ve always wanted to see the Northern Lights and I am extremely glad I was able to see them because of Happyworld. I would definitely recommend this tour to others!

“ Best night ever under the Northern Lights ”
For having only 3 full days in Iceland, deciding to go in December, we wanted to make sure we saw the northern lights! After driving out on our own first two nights with no luck and pretty bummed, we decided we needed to see them the right way, and decided to book this tour based on reviews. BEST NIGHT ever and best decision we could have made. Not only were the skies clear for us, but as soon as we got to the spot, the lights showed immediately and not only were stunning, but with our small group, the whole night felt intimate and fun. Everyone committed to the experience and having the best guides made it even sweeter. Þröstur and Gummie were awesome! In the beginning while everyone's getting adjusted, Þröstur was extremely knowledgeable about the stars and stargazing for us was filled with views through a telescope, constellation spottings along with the history and stories that go behind them. They set up the camera for us and took the most perfect pictures for everyone!!! They were never impatient to take multiple for any group, and let us make the experience our own. Getting the pictures back the next day, I couldn't believe how clear and perfect they looked. Since the pictures come with the tour, we all were excited to keep taking them and enjoy every minute. We even received a time lapse video with the pictures as well - such a bonus!! Bucket list item checked :) special thanks to our guides for being so awesome, personable and fun!! They made sure everyone had a blast. Highly recommend!!!

When booking with Happyworld, you must request Thruster as your guide. His knowledge, humor, commitment and passion for the Northern Lights and ensuring every client has the best possible experience is inspiring. We stayed well past the contracted time (midnight) because the lights were a little late on our evening, and we ended up having an experience of a lifetime. “ Once in a Lifetime Experience ”
Seeing the Northern Lights was a big part of why we visited Iceland, so we wanted to book a tour with a smaller, experienced tour company. We had a great time on our tour with Happyworld.
There was concern about whether or not we would be able to see the lights as it was cloudy all day. I was not able to get in touch with Happyworld early in the evening via email due to an outage on their end. However, they did send an email out around 6:30 pm to let us know that the tour was happening as scheduled, and it had detailed pick up instructions. I do wish our booking had a bit more detail about pick up and the email notification.
We were picked up in an off road vehicle along with another couple, met up with a second jeep, and headed off to the national park. We lucked out with the weather. The winds died down somewhat and the clouds broke apart yielding great views of the northern lights.
Some things to note: The lights are much dimmer to the naked eye than the pictures make them seem. It's still impressive to see.
It's cold. Wear layers and warm clothing. The jeeps are heated, so you can get back inside if you are getting too cold, but consider that you will be outside for hours. Hot chocolate is served, which helped keep everyone warm.
Happyworld took a good set of pictures and sent them to us the next day. This is a big perk with the small group since we got many good pictures. They took some pictures with a GoPro as well that weren't very good. We could have done without them, but it's easy enough to just delete the files.
I was able to take some pictures of my own using the advice on Happyworld's web site. For my camera, ISO 800 / F1.8 / 8 second shutter worked well with the self timer. I actually think a higher sensitivity and shorter shutter may have worked a bit better. Of course, you need a tripod, and it's not going to be possible to take pictures with people since you would need a special device to light them up (which Happyworld has). Still, I'm glad I had some of my own pictures to complement Happyworld's.
The star gazing was a bit of a gimmick. The telescope wasn't very powerful. Still, it made for some fun pictures.
Overall, I would highly recommend this tour. The experience of the operator, fantastic tour guides, and photography made for a magical experience and well worth the cost.

“ BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE! ”
I can't say enough good things about this tour. My friends and I went to Iceland in the winter with the goal of seeing the Northern Lights. After no luck on our own the first two nights, we found this company online. The reviews seems almost too good to be true - but now I don't think they even do it justice! We were picked up in the jeep by Þröstur after receiving an email that visibility was possible right from our hotel at 8pm (best part - they won't take you out if they don't think you have a chance of seeing it and will give you the tour another night until you do!). We went to a secluded area where our guide thought we'd see them. They take pictures, talk about the stars (most beautiful sky I've ever seen), and keep you occupied while the lights do their thing. I can't say enough good things about this company or our tour guides, Þröstur and Gummy. Thank you, Happy World!

“ Best bet if you wanna see the Northern Lights ”
This tour was absolutely amazing! Saw an awesome show with, white, green and even red lights! Also spotted a shooting star! Best of all they take your pictures for you so you don't have to invest in a high-tech camera! Definitely worth the money! If anyone coming to Iceland to see the Northern Lights then best bet is with them!

“ Dishonest ”
I booked their northern lights tour and they took us out on a very cloudy day because they’re a small company who wants to keep your money like “Happy”world. You have no choice because there is a 24 hour cancellation and the weather changes so often that you’re not able to cancel if the weather gets grim and if the tour is scheduled to go out. This was truly disheartening because I felt they kept our money knowing we wouldn’t see the lights so they can run a profit. It’s a very expensive tour and it’s a small company so they need the revenue so they don’t cancel unless it’s pouring. You’re better off with a bigger, more reputable company. They also claim and advertise to do a lights show and they didn’t do it. Their donuts were stale so that didn’t help. Two stars cause I liked our tour guide however he said we could get a refund cause we didn’t see the lights. He should know what their return policy is and not say that to the group. I knew that once they take you out, you have no choice and cannot get refund. Also our tour guide HIMSELF said when he picked us up that while it looks cloudy other groups have cancelled and is hopeful we’d see the lights. Huh? Goes to show you. They RIP you off. I don’t care that we didn’t see the lights with them; I care that they took us out- KNOWING it was cloudy and NOT likely to see the lights so they take your money. My friend was on the website that you can check to see cloud coverage. My advice - you can see the lights on your own like we did in Vik. Don’t waste your money on this dishonest company.

“ Not all Tours are created equal ”
It is fair to say that my visit to Iceland was very much centred around seeing the Northern Lights and to achieve this I actually booked on 3 different tours. I have now sadly returned from iceland a place that I can honestly say is one of my favourite places in the world and a true "Bucket List holiday", but on to the tour. The three tours I booked were with different companies so I would hopefully get some variety and they all had a slightly different angle. To be fair they were all goo in their own way but her I will focus on the Happy World Tour. I have written other reviews on the other tours so feel free to read them.
I think is is fair to say that we should not focus on the Northern Lights as this is somewhat out of the control of the tour and in the hands of Mother Nature. That being said we did see them and I was delighted. However had we not seen them I understand that we would have been invited back at a time of our choosing to try again which is fairly standard for most of the tours. What is perhaps more important to say is that even if we hadn't have seen the lights I believe I would have still really enjoyed the experience!
Our tour consisted of approximately 10 people across two Landrovers and two tour guides. The main guide, Þröstur, was an absolute credit to not only the company but also his father who was the other guide. The evening was filled with humour, information, friendly discussions and a very clear passion for the job they were both doing. We really did hunt the lights as they were proofing a bit tricky that night but also got to see some very interesting places along the way, the "haunted house" and the geothermal vent pumping steam and gas in to the air and some of the other sights along the way.
They really went the extra mile to give us a great experience event pulling off the road at about 2 am when we had all said goodnight, were driving home and a lot of us were dozing in the back as the lights had started to come out again. So we all bundled out for more sky gazing and photos.
The added touches of the telescope to view the stars supported by the knowledgeable discussion was great while waiting for the lights to show and I really like the photos that are taken of you and shared at no cost to really help you remember the experience. Much better than a blurry selfie.
In conclusion the tour from Happy World was the most expensive tour I went on in the week but it was by far the best. I cannot recommend the experience more and although the other tours are good in their own way my recommendation would be to book this tour and probably on your first night so you have the chance to try again if the lights don't show.
I would like to thank the team, as this was absolutely a highlight of my holiday and a lifelong memory.

“ A Highlight Experience ”
Went on the Dec. 9th Northern Lights tour. A memorable experience! Our tour guide Throlstar (sp?) had a passion for providing interesting and useful information and is a 'stellar' ambassador for Iceland. Seeing the lights was one of the main reasons for our visit and we were not disappointed.

“ The ONLY way to see the Northern Lights ”
Before we came to Iceland from Texas, I read about Happy World and decided to book the Northern Lights & stargazing tour with them. We were in Iceland with a group bus tour of 32 people and I didn't trust having adequate opportunity to see the lights. I also had read that taking pictures of the lights is hard - so Happy World was the solution.
They hunt out the best location for each night and don't just go to the same spot every time. We moved around to different spots on our tour. You can just relax and enjoy the light show, while they are taking professional quality pictures of what you are seeing. They even take pictures of the Northern Lights with you in the picture. By the following day they email you a link to download whatever pictures you want.
Thruster was VERY knowledgeable about the lights and the stars, and moon. While waiting for the lights, they bring a telescope and show you lots of stars and constellations. Some of these pics and close up of the moon were included with our pics also. It is so obvious how much Thruster loves what he is doing and he is so friendly, it is like being out with a friend. He wasn't watching his watch to be finished with us and take back to the hotel - but offered to wait a while longer if we wanted to see if more lights were coming.
They give you hot chocolate and a pastry to warm you up. Also, their vehicle has a heater that works without the engine running and so you can get in and out of it, whenever you need to warm up.
It is a small group with up to 7 people in a vehicle - we had 2 vehicles.
Not only the guides are great, but also a big thanks to Anita. I chatted with her online and asked questions both before we left Texas and after we got here. She responds almost immediately and is also very friendly.
I can't say enough good things about them .. so try them and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed

“ EPIC experience and the BEST experience!!! ”
Our trip to Iceland was solely booked to see the lights...and Happyworld and Throstur hit our expectations! We were picked up at 830pm from the lobby of our hotel by Throstur, our guide and true Icelandic Viking! From the second we met Throstur, a smile was on our faces. The entire ride outside of Reykjavik was full of stories, experiences, and expectations for the evening. Once we got to Throstur's claimed spot, we immediately saw the lights. He got the camera and go pro out and just started capturing the moment(s) for us. We had incredible sightings and all were so well captured on film! As the light's intensity came and went, Throstur shared stories of constellations as we looked through the telescope. When the clouds came in, the fun didn't stop there. He led us into an abandoned house and shared thrilling stories of paranormal activity. He is such a good storyteller that we were hooked on every word!
We could go on and on with this review but, to sum it all up, stop researching and book a tour with Happyworld. They're the ONLY team to go with - you won't be disappointed.

“ Northern Lights Experience ”
Such a fun group. Was entertained with stories and star gazing while waiting for the lights to appear. Thought we were gonna have no luck but as soon as we were getting ready to leave the lights came in strong. Guides decided to extend trip by an extra hour just so we could see the lights. They were beautiful and this experience was my favorite! Thanks for a great time! Would highly recommend them!

“ Perfect ”
We can totally recommend this tour and have nothing to complain about. They have a very good customer service, the tour guide has very good knownledge and takes you to spots you wouldn't find alone. On our first night we didn't see any northern lights, so we went on another tour the next day for free. On our second night we were successfull and it was a perfect organization and trip. It's way more expensive than the bus tour, but its totally worth money!

“ An amazing evening not to be missed ”
From being picked up at the hotel at 8.30pm to being dropped off again at 2.45am this tour was amazing. We chased the lights all night but also did star gazing through a telescope. visited a haunted house and saw a hot spring pumping steam into the atmosphere right by where we were watching the lights. A small group in a 4x4 led by a guy who wants to see the lights as much as you do. Pay a bit extra and go on this tour you will be amazed. Wrap up really warm - 6 hours outside in the freezing cold if you don't wont be pleasant

Tour on 23rd November. Small group BIG experience!!! I was surrounded by very friendly other guests! Our guide Mr Throstur is truely talented! He brought us to an amazing place with several abandonned houses, he told interesting stories about Northern lights, Astronomy, Icelandic culture... and he captured very professional photos! The beauty of that night sky was simply speechless, I enjoyed there at each instance.
However beware it could be super windy, so be ready!

Best tour we took in Reykjavik! Amazing guide, he knows about his stuff, well prepare with equipment, the photos where amazing the experience was too. It was a long and word it tour. They pick you up at the hotel, drive you on the jeep to the areas where they think they are gonna show up, and they move you to other areas, they give you hot chocolate and bread, great explanations of the sky and such a great service. We stop to see the lights several times, they do everything in they reach for you to have a great experience.

“ SPECTACULAR - THE BEST ”
I've been in Reykjavik for 5 days and i've done 5 northern lights tours, being this tour the one with who i could finally see the Lights! They are completely professional, explaining how they do the hunt, giving you warm chocolate when it starts to get cold, and play games and stargazing in the wait for the lights. When we were going back, they stopped like 2 o 3 times in the middle of the road because the lights appeared there, they really love their job. AND THE PICTURES THEY TOOK YOU ARE AMAZING. Book now!

This was an excellent trip, the guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the island, history and on astronomy. They did everything they could to ensure that we all got amazing views of the northern lights and where in no rush to take us all back home. We visited different sites and had plenty of information and stories to keep people entertained whilst waiting for the lights to appear. We where not disappointed, had an amazing evening with the lights present for most of the evening. Would definitely recommend this tour company.

“ I would only book with this group - AMAZING ”
After reading the Tripadvisor reviews we signed up to see the Northern Lights with this company and were NOT disappointed. Our guide, Throster (sp? I call him THOR. He is a true Viking) was absolutely the best part of this tour. His knowledge, commitment, entertainment, and 6th sense for finding the elusive Northern Lights is unmatched. We found the lights and they were spectacular. The lights were only part of the tour: Thor is also very knowledgable about the constellations and legends of Iceland. Warning: it is darn cold at night in Iceland and you need about 100 layers of warmth to make it for the 2 hours we were out of the jeep in the middle of nowhere. Also, regular cameras can't really capture the lights, but this group takes professional photos of everyone and sends them the next day via Drop box. This was a MUST; even strong amateur photographers on the tour weren't getting the quality he was.

Great enjoyable tour chasing the northern light. Our Guide Þröstur is very friendly and professional. He kept us entertained throughout the night sharing with us his vast knowledge on the NorthernLights and the stars. He also informed they have a high percentage of success rate (90+%) in catching the northern lights and he did not fail us this time also.

“ Unbelievably awesome! ”
Stop- before you figure out all your activities/budget for Iceland book your Northern Lights tour with Happy World! We are totally budget travelers but but our whole trip budget with Happy World for Norther Lights. There is no comparison. Their super experienced guides- yes Throstur we mean you!- are not only experienced, they love their jobs. While every other tour last night hadn't even started, we saw not only a sky full of moving green but red as well! The difference is they "hunt" for openings in the nights sky all while keeping an eye on solar activity on satellite maps. PLUS, they pull out their telescope so we learned all about the night sky during the Northern Lights intermission. I also love that they took pictures of their guests and provide them with free downloads.
After baking Happy World I found out they could help me with our whole trip. Robert got us all organized with the budget providers we needed for our other excursions.

“ Awesome Northern Lights Tour! ”
If you have a decent weather forecast, and really want to see the lights, it's definitely worth paying the extra $ and going with Happy World. Our guides were Prostur and Renier. We had about 12 people in 2 jeeps. Both guides were genuinely nice people who are enthusiastic about what they do. Prostur was extremely knowledgeable about the lights, stars and weather patterns. The night started out cloudy, so we were constantly on the move, looking for breaks in the clouds. We probably made about 10 stops and ended up lucking out and getting to witness a truly amazing show in the sky (see photos below). The professional photos were a major bonus, as we couldn't get our camera to work correctly. Plus it's much better to sit back and enjoy the show, than to fiddle around with your camera the entire time. We couldn't have asked for a more memorable experience and I cant recommend this company enough! Thanks Happy World!

“ Worth Every Krona! ”
We only had one night in Iceland on our extended layover and wanted to make it a night to remember- and the Northern Lights tour with Happy World certainly delivered! Not only did our guides find great spots to view unbelievable displays of the northern lights, but they also provided great guidance on the timing of the lights, giving us the option to stay out until midnight (which was rewarded by a truly spectacular reappearance of the lights), even though we had already had an incredible showing that night. Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides provided lots of interesting information about the lights, the constellations (with telescope views), and Iceland itself with hot chocolate, personal photos, and even some fun ghost stories! It was a small group, and in those jeeps, even the car ride was fun! We decided to splurge a little by booking with Happy World and I can say that without a doubt that it was worth every krona! PS. Dress warmly!

He was very friendly and enthusiastic and kept us interested the whole evening even when the lights faded, persuading us to stay until midnight when we were rewarded with a spectacular finale. “ Best northern lights tour - professional photos a HUGE bonus ”
My mom and I were dying to see the northern lights, but we knew it could be very hit or miss considering that we were only in Iceland for a few days. We went to a local tourism office and they said we HAD to go with Happyworld if we actually wanted to see the lights. We argued that we wanted to save money and go on a bus and they said "busses are the Walmart of northern lights tours. You will get what you pay for." Boy were they right. This is a small jeep tour with a very knowledgeable guide. We saw one of the most spectacular northern lights shows I could've ever imagined. For hours, we watched the lights dance across the sky from a perfectly dark and secluded location (they know all the best viewing spots). Besides witnessing a once in a lifetime show, the guides on this trip take professional photos of all guests (as many as you want) throughout the night and then give you the pictures free of charge. I am so grateful that they were able to capture the magic that we experienced. Also included: pastries and the BEST host chocolate I've ever had. I can't recommend this trip enough. If the lights are out, you will have the best shot of seeing them with this amazing company. You pay a little more, but you your experience is absolutely PRICELESS.

Prostur and his accompanying guide persuaded us to stay out later so that we could see better night sky. I was so tired but the rest of the group insisted and I was not let down, thank goodness the guides are passionate about their jobs and not rushing to get home out of the cold. Anita and Robert responded to my email quickly, and enthusiastically. Unlike other tour operators we had our photos at 10am the next day. I spoke to several other tourists that had been out the same night as me and I was shocked that they had no personalized photos! If your coming to Iceland to see the night sky - don’t risk it by booking anywhere else. Thanks to all those at Happyworld! #amazing. Now I have to come back to experience all of their other tours so I can feel the passion of Iceland.

“ This was definitely the best tour I have been on during my one week stay in Iceland. ”
This was definitely the best tour I have been on during my one week stay in Iceland. My experience with HappyWorld was positive in every way. If you're looking for an adventure hunting the lights, look no further!
Our main guide Þröstur, was super knowledgeable in every aspect about the lights and stars. His explanations were thorough and easy to understand. It was very fascinating to follow his green laser pointer to know were the Northern Lights are/will be, as well as see the star constellations and hear the stories behind them. The telescope added another layer of fun, as you're able to view clusters of stars up close! Þröstur has a great sense of humour and keeps the mood lively during the entire tour. When lights are sighted, he takes every opportunity to help individuals with their camera settings, as well as take personalized photos, group photos, and pure northern lights photos to share with the group afterwards. You can tell that he's really passionate about the Northern Lights and stars, and genuinely wants everyone to have an amazing experience.
The jeeps will climb through anything to get to good sighting spots. It was really fun and exciting sitting in Þröstur's jeep as he'll stop and go, and be constantly driving while looking at the sky and his phone for satellite information. There is no pre-determined location, which makes this tour mysterious and fun as it's literally a 'hunt' for the Northern Lights! Patience is the key though, as the sighting of the lights are never guaranteed, so take in the experience as something on its own. If there is no or very minimal sighting, HappyWorld will do their best to help reschedule another one.

Northern Lights & Stargazing Tour - Highlight of Trip!
Robert was the main contact for email, and I can't thank him enough for being able book and re-book my friend and I into days that worked for us. He is very responsive on email, and most of the time, it was my wonky wifi connection (while out on other tours) that caused delays. Since my trip was only a week, Robert managed to help reschedule a tour that was first cancelled because of bad weather, and then book a re-run for a worse than expected sighting night, all free of charge!
The hot chocolate provided was one of the best I've had, and it goes amazingly with the Kleina (fried doughnut snack). For those not used to the cold, the cars have heat generators so you can sit inside whenever you need to. Otherwise, with proper clothing, it's enjoyable to stay outside the entire time chatting with both guides, as well as other people on the tour!

“ Perfect proposal on a perfect tour ”
First of all I would like to thank Þröstur for an amazing tour as he was enthusiastic and knowledgeable throughout the entire night and we loved hearing his ghost stories whilst warming up with a cup of hot chocolate. This tour was made even more amazing by the photos that he took for us and even helped me with my proposal along with the team including Anita that help to arrange the whole thing they even provided the champagne so we could celebrate with the lovely people that were also on our tour. This tour is well worth the money as not only do you get a private jeep instead of a huge bus full of people but u also get a few little treats along the way including hot chocolate and a sweet snack. The northern lights tour was incredible and he found the perfect spots so we could enjoy the natural wonder without any hassle. The fact that they provide you with professional photos is incredible as there is no way you could capture the lights with a mobile phone or normal camera the pictures alone are worth every penny. Magical experience that me and my now fiance will never forget, can't thank all of you enough plus it got me lots of brownie points and made all of her friends very jealous

“ Great tour - so worth it!!! ”
Our guide Thruster (not the proper Icelandic spelling, but that's the English pronunciation) was phenomenal. We went out on a very cloudy night and the forecast was extremely unpredictable. September is not the best time to visit Iceland for the lights, so we were really worried we wouldn't see anything AND it was our last night in town - but thanks to Thruster's expertise and knowledge, we got a FULL sky of the lights!!
We were outside waiting for the clouds to clear for about an hour before we saw anything, but Thruster spent that time stargazing with us and imparting his natural wisdom upon us - oh and telling ghost stories :) He's an awesome guy - if you're thinking of doing this tour, I believe it's worth the extra $$ - and there's hot chocolate!!!

Great company! The super jeep offers a personal atmosphere and the guides are EXCELLENT. Thruster (spelling?) was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the lights and the stars. While we waited for clouds to clear he pointed out constellations and told us the stories to match. We got to look through the telescope and were served DELICIOUS hot chocolate and Icelandic pastries. Communication with Anita prior to the tour was excellent as well. Thruster is really great. Because of his experience and knowledge, we waited in a spot that the cloud did eventually cleared out, and we saw northern lights of level Kp=5. That means we saw lights overhead and further south, not just the north. It was amazing.
Thruster also taught us a lot about that stars, galaxies and constellations we were seeing in the sky.
It was cold, but we were all very excited.
He also took great pictures for each of us. And then we received electronic copies of the pictures.....no extra charge....photos are included.
The tour is amazing and I highly recommend it.

Mariusz and Prostur were amazing guides and were very knowledgeable about the lights... we scouted 2 locations and were able to see an amazing show. They had set up a telescope for stargazing and the hot chocolate was really tasty. They gave us ample time to view the lights.... and no need to worry about taking your camera... they took pics of all of us and of the lights and sent them to us the next day.Overall about a 3.5 hour tour round trip. “ Northern Lights Extraordinaire. Fantastic! ”
Not expecting to view northern lights this time of year but walked into a tour guide company in Reykjavik and they recommended Happyworld as a company with high probability of achieving sighting of this elusive natural phenomena.
I was not disappointed!
The location chosen for the occasion was excellent (its cold out there and exposed so dress very warmly) and our small tour group were completely blown away by what we witnessed. It was fantastic.
Our guide Prostur, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and provided excellent professional photographs of the northern lights...with individuals or couples in the foreground. Photos could be downloaded from Dropbox within 24 hours.
A haunted house and stargazing were added attractions on this most outstanding tour.

“ Best Northern Lights Tour! ”
I just did the Northern Lights tour via jeep on 9/3/17, and it was fantastic! I wish I could remember our tour guide's name because he fit his role perfectly and provided excellent service. I am hoping the owner sees this review and gives this particular guide proper kudos for a job well done. What was so great about this tour guide you ask? Let me give you the rundown:
Passionate about his job
He even looked like a fit viking!
He took us out to a secluded area near a haunted house. He loved putting the fright in all of us. It was pretty funny. As we waited for the lights, he took out stargazing equipment and kept us entertained with all sorts of facts. I rarely if ever drink hot cocoa, but his choice in beverages was so good. Along with a traditional Icelandic pastry. Then, it happened......we saw the lights!!!!! It was so amazing and beautiful. I was so happy for myself and everyone on the tour to have witnessed this natural beauty in the sky. This is a highly recommended tour for seeing the Northern Lights!!!
