“ Super Tour ”
We have just returned from the guided kajaking tour with Riken.
Eventhough the weather was rainy and foggy- the tour is definitley worth it!
Riken our guide is highly experienced and she knows many secret places to go/look at. We have spent awesome hours in the fjord and the tour is recommended to everyone who wants to see the fjords and the nature off the common track.

“ Excellent Kayak Tour with Fantastic Guide ”
My three friends and I booked a kayak tour with Gone Paddling. From the booking process, communication was great. We booked the tour with pickup in Bergen. The pickup spot was easy to find and the van that brought us to Herdla was nice. Upon our arrival in Herdla, we were greeted with coffee/tea. We got outfitted in our gear and were ready to go! Our guide, Nikola, really made this trip special for us. He was very knowledgeable about the area and catered the tour to our kayaking levels. Another great perk of this tour is they take photos of your, your group, and the scenery throughout the tour. The scenery was beautiful, the kayaks were great, and Nikola was fantastic. Highly recommend!

“ Beautiful Sights & History! ”
I signed up in hopes of checking off sea kayaking on the bucket list in a beautiful place. I was also excited to get some exercise and work off all the cream I seem to be eating in Norway. What I experienced was a fun day from a terrific guide named Folkwin. He was open and patient with me — the casual and novice kayaker. He also shared some very interesting historic tidbits about the area including during the German occupation.
Bonus: Meeting place and drop-off location were very conventient and easy to find. Lunch was tasty as well!
This was definitely worth carving out a day during your stay in Bergen. Don’t be worried about the weather. It rained off and on between the bursts of sun during our kayaking trip and we were just fine.

“ Kayaking trip ”
We had an amazing time on our 3 hr kayak trip. The meet up and drive from Bergen was seamless and our guide, Folkwin, was knowledgeable and fun to chat with. We loved leaning about the history of the area as we were kayaking and enjoyed just being on the water. Lunch was delicious as well.

“ Far from the crowds ”
This was by far the best day we had in the Bergen area. Our guide was funny and accommodating, and we stopped for lunch at just the right time. Scenery in the fjord is breathtaking, and you do not have to be an expert kayaker to do this. We were all in double kayaks, so we shared paddiling. It was just so tranquil and beautiful, especially seeing the coastal ferry glide by. Such a lovely break from the crowds of Bergen. Thanks!

“ Kayaking in Herdla ”
My friend and I went kayaking with guides Nikka and Neil and had an amazing time. We had never experienced anything quite like the fjords and even in the rain was worth the trip! We saw all types of nature and animals and learned about the history there from WWII. We not only kayaked but got to have lunch on an island and explore a cave which was unexpected and well worth the adventure. Would recommend going as a peaceful escape from city life and to learn more about the islands surrounding area!

“ Stunning Kayaking Tour ”
Neil guided myself and four other travelers on a serene kayaking tour around small islands near Bergen. Neil was funny, kind, professional, and extremely informational! He did an exceptional job making us feel trusted, safe, and relaxed, and the tour itself was absolutely astounding. Highly, highly recommended

“ Take the Bergen/Herdla Kayaking day trip but skip the Balestrand one. ”
We have been traveling for several weeks throughout Scandanavia and today was one of our favorite adventures. A kayaking tour with Gone Paddling (guide Nikka) that left from Bergen by a very nice and comfortable van and took us to the start of our kayaking adventure in Herdla. About a 40 minute drive. We were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day however we felt on even a rainy day this would be worth doing. Gone Paddling is well organized with excellent equipment. The kayaking is enjoyable for beginner to more advanced kayakers. The views and scenery spectacular. Nikka was well informed, had no trouble keeping our group of 5 boats (10 people) together. Lunch was provided, tasty sandwich and excellent local apple juice. Nikka also served as our photographer so we didn't have to risk taking our cameras. We highly recommend this adventure.
We also did a kayaking trip with Gone Paddling in Balestrand but unfortuntely was disappointing. Our guide spent more time getting us ready, floating and having lunch (bread with ham) then actually paddling. And most disappointing is that we mainly just paddled on the shores of Balestrand then exploring the fjord. Our guide said it was too cold to go into the fjord (it was a lovely sunny day.) Our guide was a local which was nice but he didn't seem to know much about the rocks, waters. And while we were told pictures would be e-mailed to us, he didn't take any photos or at least we never received any. This Balestrand kayaking trip would be fine for a first time kayakers, family with young kids or others who just want to be on the water for a view of things on shore.

“ Fun kayaking day ”
We took a day trip that lasted from 9:30 am to 4 pm, picking up and dropping off in the center of Bergen. Very professional pick up and drop off in a comfortable minibus. Nikka was our guide for the kayaking trek, which took us all around the nearby fjord inlets and coves. Beautiful scenery and a strenuous paddle - though that more depends on the group you are with - we had mostly experienced paddlers and young folks that went pretty fast. If you want a slower pace, you can let the guide know. We broke for a simple, tasty lunch on an island and Nikka pointed out birds and wildlife along the way, as well as shared bits of local history. Really fun experience, highly recommend!

“ Great kayaking tour! ”
We were picked up in Bergen and taken out to Herdla for our kayaking tour. Nikka was very knowledgeable about the area and pointed out a variety of interesting facts about the area including some WW2 info (tour of a passageway used in WW2 included, near where we stopped for lunch). Nikka was great when we had some boat issues and handle the issues with ease while also making sure everyone on the trip was enjoying their time.
Don't worry about what to wear - you get all geared up once you get there - wet suits, top, jacket, boots and a life vests all included. I would suggest a swimsuit to wear under it all!
Also don't bring an expensive camera - the guide will take pictures with the GoPro for you!
Would recommend to all!

“ Great kayaking day out ”
Had a lovely day out kayaking with GonePaddling. Nikka, our guide, was friendly, welcoming and knowledgable about the history and geography of the region. We went out in a group that included beginners and more experienced kayakers and Nikka handled the range of abilities with ease. Overall a relaxing day out in the fjords near Bergen with a few periods of more strenuous kayaking into the wind.
I’d highly recommend.

“ Great Kayak day at sea with history hints ”
Great location 1 hour away from Bergen in a new mini bus, to enjoy the ride .
Professional operation and knowledge of history of region. I enjoyed the full day ! Besides a windy day to paddle we visited wwll tunnels and learned about some old airport and installations

“ Nice day outside Bergen ”
This is a review of the “full-day” paddling trip near Bergen. It’s a nice way to see some Norwegian coastline get some exercise on the water, but not particularly memorable. Nikka was a good guide; she paid close attention to safety and also provided tidbits about local history. The boats were high-quality fiberglass, which was nice.
A few things to be aware of. One, there isn’t really much to see. Main point of interest was an old WWII cave that we walked through during lunch. Two, this “full-day” paddling trip is only two hours on the water — the rest is transportation, gearing up, etc. And three, despite what the website says, you’ll probably be in tandems kayaks — I asked to go solo and was eventually allowed to, but generally it seems to be tandems.
If you have time to plan ahead, you’ll get a lot more bang for your buck doing a trip on Sognjefjord with Nordic Ventures — same price, over 50% more paddling time, and much more beautiful. But if you’re a beginner with time to kill in Bergen, this is a fine way to spend a day.

“ Gone Paddling Bergen Norway ”
From booking family ticket for 2 adults and children aged 8 and 9 we were given an efficient stress free all equipment provided service. Collection in a nice mini bus, clear tuition, good quality equipment, tandem kayaks with rudders. Beautiful and interesting paddle around islands near Herdla Fort, supplied with lunch and a drink. Given digital copies of photos of our trip. Thanks to our guide Miguel also for all the historical and naturalistic insights. We really enjoyed ourselves.

“ Great way to see the Fjords! ”
What a wonderful way to enjoy the fjords of Norway! Our guide Miguel was excellent and provided lots of interesting information as we enjoyed the scenery. This trip was a great value considering it included a full 3ish hours in the kayak plus lunch and the ride to and from Bergen. I would absolutely recommend you spend the day seeing Herdla from the water! Thanks again Miguel!

“ Amazing Kayak Tour ”
Definitely a highlight on our visit to Bergen. Neil and Miguel led us through some amazing views of the fjords, while pointing out different sites. They were extremely funny and made an overall great experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommendable for anyone looking to spend a few days in Bergen, with a taste for the outdoors.

“ Bergen? Say the truth instead! ”
Well, this post is not against the kayaking tour itself. The overall trip is nice and worth it. The staff is also nice and competent but what I disliked was the lack of transparency.
The pamphlet advertising for the kayaking tour says "guided kayaking trip in Bergen" and in the tour description is often repeated the term "fjord". Unfortunately all this does not correspond to reality.
The activity takes place in Herdla which is at a 40 km distance from the Tourist Information in Bergen reachable after 1-hour drive and the landscape does not look like the "real Norwegian fjords" as a foreigner might expect them to be!
I fully understand the marketing technique of the company but this is highly misleading!
In a few words, if you have just a few days to spend in Norway and you wish to go for a kayaking tour in Bergen or paddling through some real Norwegian fjords, please avoid this tour!
Instead, if you do not mind spending a nice day paddling along the coast of Herdla Island, just join Gone Paddling As!

“ Kayaking Trip ”
This was a wonderful kayaking experience cruising around the islands near Bergen. Neil was a great guide. In fact I did a repeat kayak trip with him in Balestrand, which was also awesome. Good boats and equipment. Highly recommended.

“ Great kayak trip! ”
We had an amazing trip around the islands in the Herdla area. The landscape was beautiful and the historical significance was very interesting. Our guide explained about the German occupation during WWII and the logistical significance of the area to the Bergen port. The kayaking equipment and skilled guides were top-notch.

“ Kayak on the black water ”
It was absolutely beautiful to paddle on the water of Herdla island and see different small islands. It is quite a sport so be ready to muscle your arms and belly but this is a healthy and funny way to visit one more beautiful place in Norway !
Thank you for that experience,

“ Fun, adrenaline and beutifull nature. ”
If you have one day to spare while in Bergen, take the beutifull trip to Herdla and do the Via Feratta. Hanging ( safe ) on the clifs, with white water waves smashing under you.. Do the zip line, fly with the seagulls... Thanks alot for a wonderfull outing. I brought a group age 10- 55, everybody was thrilled.

“ Our favorite day on a 10 day trip ”
Our kayak adventure with Neil was the best thing we did during 10 days in Norway! My husband and I were so impressed with the professionalism, knowledge and equipment built into this tour. Neil picked us up in Bergen, drove us to Herdla, packed us a delicious lunch, and showed us an incredible and unforgettable adventure on the water and on the surrounding islands. The WWII ruins (and the cows) were an unexpected bonus! This was worth every penny. Thanks Neil!

“ Kayak adventures with a bit of rain ”
We had an amazing day kayaking with Neil (even the rain couldn't dampen our spirits especially with our dry suits on!) The equipment was great and really good quality. The kayaking was great fun and Neil knew the islands and area well, guiding us around with the right balance of instruction and letting us explore. We would definitely recommend this as a good way to see the fjords and old world war 2 relics in the area.

“ Kayak Adventure ”
My wife and I booked a kayak trip and could not have had a better experience. They drove all the way to Bergen to pick us up and provided everything we needed.
Our guide Neil was very professional, personable and a great guy to talk to. We felt like we were in good hands. He showed us some cool WWII caves and structures. Neil was super patient too, we didn't feel rushed at all. The location was beautiful and I can't believe how much water we were able to cover (good kayaks!).
Lunch was included and very tasty and so was the locally made juice he provided. Neil even drove us back to Bergen! We felt like the trip was a great value, given how far out of the way they go to make the trip easy, through transportation, meals, and the amount of time spent on the water with a professional guide. If we're ever back in the Bergen area we will definitely book another adventure with Gone Paddling.

“ Amazing Kayak Trip ”
We had an excellent kayak trip with Lynn-Marie around the whole Island Herdla. The view was stunning and Lynn made a very delicious lunch Wrap for us. The owner of Gone Paddling invited us for a BBQ after the trip and we felt very welcome to hang around in the garden of the Company. Thanks for this nice day!
