Fly Fishing at Rio Penitente: Day Excursion

Book now

This excursion gives you the opportunity of spending a full day of fly fishing at Rio Penitente and learning how to cast into the wind. Fly fishing in remote waters where few other anglers venture is an unforgettable part of visiting Patagonia. Let us take you off the beaten path to fly fish at Rio Penitente and show you one of Patagonia’s best-kept secrets!

Your offroad adventure begins when we show up at 9:00 am with an air-conditioned 4WD vehicle to pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Natales. Together we drive 2 hours to Rio Serrano, which is located in Torres del Paine National Park. Rio Serrano is one of the most popular fly fishing spots in Southern Patagonia. Home to wild resident brown trout, sea-run brown trout and chinook salmon (king), Rio Serrano provides a wide range of fly fishing opportunities.

Depending on the season and your level of interest, we try different casting techniques. Best season for trout would be from November to March and for chinook salmon from December to February. At the end of the day, we drive back to Puerto Natales.
