Get picked up from your hotel in Hobart and head to Triabunna to catch the ferry to the island. Upon arrival at Maria Island National Park, head to the campground where you will be briefed on your itinerary for the next 24 hours on the island.
Then, head off for the first walk of the trip along the Fossil Cliffs and explore their rich geological history. Meet several kangaroos on this easy 2.5-hour walk and enjoy lunch along the way at one of the many scenic panoramic view points.
In the afternoon, relax by the beautiful Darlington Beach and take a swim in the crystal clear waters to refresh after your morning walk. As the evening arrives, watch the wombats who will begin to come out to play on the hillside and green lawns around the campground. Spend a few hours meeting the wombats of Maria Island - they are wild so no touching but you can get a nice close-up selfie.
For dinner, enjoy a Tasmanian bbq with local beers to finish the day of exploring. Then head for bed in your waterproof tent. You will be provided with all the necessary gear including sleeping bags and pillows, cutlery and cooking gear and access to toilets and showers.
The next morning wake up early for a stroll along the beach or some morning yoga! Enjoy complimentary breakfast and coffee/tea before your next short walk. Visit the Painted Cliffs, a 2-hour return walk from the campground and learn about the area’s rich cultural history from your guide. Then it's time to say goodbye to the island and catch the midday ferry back to mainland Tasmania and head back to Hobart after your night away!
